Temple dawns · volcano sunrises · island calm
A ten-day crossing of Java and Bali — sunrise over Borobudur, the Hindu spires of Prambanan, a pre-dawn climb to Mount Bromo, then the soft landing of Ubud and the coast. Guides, private transfers and the inter-island flight are all arranged before you arrive.
Most travellers see Bali and stop there. This journey adds the other half of the story — Central and East Java, where the great temples of Borobudur and Prambanan rise from the plain and Mount Bromo smoulders in a sea of volcanic sand. You begin in Java at its most dramatic, then cross to Bali by private flight to end where the pace is gentlest. One designer holds the whole route: every guide, transfer, sunrise slot and reservation confirmed before you land.
Begin near Yogyakarta, the cultural heart of Java. Stand at Borobudur as the mist lifts at dawn, walk the Hindu terraces of Prambanan, and lose an afternoon to the city’s palaces and batik workshops. Then climb into the Tengger highlands for Mount Bromo — a pre-dawn viewpoint over the caldera, the sea of sand below, and a smoking cone catching first light. It is Indonesia at its most elemental.
A private inter-island flight carries you to Bali for the slow half of the trip. Settle first among the rice terraces and water temples of Ubud, then drift south to the beaches and resort calm of Nusa Dua. After the early starts of Java, these are days without an alarm — a spa ritual, a long lunch, a sunset with nothing to do but watch it.

A typical Java and Bali package covers the following. Anything can be added or removed.
What travellers ask before combining the two islands.
The ten-day journey starts from $5,500 per couple. That covers curated stays across Java and Bali, private guides, all private transfers and the inter-island flight — international flights are separate. The figure scales with property choice, season and whether you add the Ijen Crater leg.
International flights, Indonesia’s visa on arrival (IDR 500,000 for 30 days) and the tourist levy (IDR 150,000) sit outside the package, along with personal spending and the optional Ijen extension. Everything else along the route is arranged and quoted up front.
The signature itinerary runs ten days — roughly five in Java for the temples and Bromo, then five in Bali to unwind. A condensed seven-day version is available if your time is shorter.
By a private inter-island flight, included in the package. Within each island you travel by private vehicle with a driver, and by 4WD around Mount Bromo where the terrain calls for it.
In Java: sunrise at Borobudur, the Hindu temples of Prambanan, the city of Yogyakarta and a Mount Bromo sunrise. In Bali: the rice terraces and water temples of Ubud, then the beaches of Nusa Dua. The Ijen Crater blue-fire hike can be added in East Java.
It involves an early, pre-dawn start and some cool air at altitude, but the viewpoints are reached comfortably with a vehicle and short walks. Your guide sets the pace, and we tailor the effort to your group.
